The Canine Fence Company of Wilton, CT together with The Invisible Fence Brand has launched the Oxygen Recovery Pet Mask Donation Program for local fire departments throughout New England, New Jersey and Southern NY.
It is estimated that in 2006, more than 40,000 pets died in fires; most succumbed to smoke inhalation. In most states, emergency responders are unequipped to deal with the unique needs of pet rescue. The donation of these specially designed and potentially lifesaving animal oxygen masks will enable first responders to efficiently administer oxygen to a stricken animal.
The mask kits come with small, medium and large masks. In addition to cats and dogs, these masks can help save smaller pets such as ferrets, hamsters and birds. Each mask comes in a convenient storage bag, are reusable and easy to clean. Manufactured by Surgivet, the masks have dual vents and a rubber mounted 22 mm oxygen adapter to enable unrestricted inhalation and exhalation of air. The durable mask is made of polycarbonate and has a wholesale value of $55 per kit.
